B]Maybach adds power, prestige[/B]
Luxury brand Maybach is adding a fourth model to its 62 lineup — a chauffer-driven 62 S model.
The model features a 12-cylinder engine with 450 kW/612 hp. It features a revamped front end with a redesigned radiator grille with 20-inch spoked wheels. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
The 62 S was debuted at the Beijing auto show in November.
Honda rolls out clean V-6 diesel engines
Honda Motor Co. is developing a clean V-6 diesel engine that could be installed in the Honda Ridgeline, Pilot, Odyssey and Acura MDX vehicles, said CEO Takeo Fukui in a report in Automotive News.
Honda plans to sell a clean 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel in 2009. A V-6 diesel with the same technology will follow. The engines will meet tougher emissions rules in the U.S. and will be as clean as gasoline-engine emissions.
Mitsubishi introduces redesigned Pajero SUV
Mitsubishi Motors Corp. has launched a redesigned Pajero SUV in Japan. The company has sold 2.5 million Pajeros in 170 countries since 1982. The third-generation model has a weight-reducing aluminum hood, stiffer body joints and Active Stability & Traction Control.
Toyota boosts production outside Japan
For the first time, Toyota Motor Corp. plans to produce more cars overseas in 2007 than in Japan, according to the Asahi newspaper in Japan.
Toyota plans to expand production outside Japan to 4.4 million vehicles, up from 4 million in 2006. Toyota is on tap to outpace the world’s largest automaker, General Motors Corp., in 2007.
