Toyota, Ford executives meet
Top Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. officials met last week to discuss how the automakers could work together on engine technologies and other issues, according to a report in The Detroit News.
Ford CEO Alan Mulally and Toyota Chairman Fujio Cho are in “preliminary” talks, according to a source familiar with the discussions, about a collaboration between the companies.
Ford confirmed the talks, but would not release details about the discussion.

"At this point, it's just a discussion," the source said, quoted in The Detroit News.
Volvo XC60 to get bioethanol-compatible engine
The Volvo XC60 concept car that will hit the Detroit auto show next month will be equipped with a 3.2-liter, six-cylinder bioethanol engine and all-wheel drive.
The engine will have 265 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque. The engine can run on gasoline, but also has technology that makes it E85-compatible with a fuel economy of 19.2 mpg.
The XC60 goes on sale in early 2009, but it is unclear if it will have a bioethanol engine in the U.S.
