Mitsubishi will debut redesigned Lancer
Mitsubishi will launch a redesigned 2008 Lancer at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The car, which goes on sale in the spring, will be the first Mitsubishi sold in the U.S. with a continuously variable transmission.
The redesigned car has a longer wheelbase and is wider and taller than the current model. It is based on Mitsubishi’s C platform used on the Outlander crossover.
Fashion-designer inspired SUV
Fashion designer Mark Ecko is designing a $200,000 black-and-gray exterior SUV that camoflauges rhinos, skulls and dice.
The concept won’t be hitting stores anytime soon, but Ecko is designing customized models of Nissan Motor Co.’s Pathfinder and Armada SUVS that could feature less subtle details and a cheaper price tag.
Nissan displayed Ecko’s Pathfinder and Armada in Nashville on Friday. Nissan debuted the SUVs in New York in October and have since displayed them at auto events around the U.S. Ecko is a New York fashion designer and graffiti artist.
Honda: Bigger engines
Acura is considering adding bigger engines to its lineup. The largest engine that the Honda luxury division currently offers is a V-6.

"That is our direction," he said last week during a reception for the opening of Honda's advanced design studio in California.
A next-generation NSX sports car, due out in 2009, will have a 10-cylinder engine.
Honda has made 8- and 12 cylinder engines, but they are used only for racing.
